Chevron Dragged to Court!!!

Chevron Human Energy, the third-largest oil producer in Nigeria and one of its largest investors, spending more than $3 billion annually has been dragged to court by one of it's former employee.

The lawsuit involving its former employee Oyewole Oyedokun with registration no SUIT NO. NICN/LA/388/2013 over an unpaid entitlement was today mentioned before the Honourable Justice J.T. Agbadu Fishim of the National Industrial Court in Lagos. Joined in the case was T.A Amusah & Sons. Also mentioned was another suit no NICN/LA/389/2013 involving Esohe Jolaoluwa and Delog Nigeria Limited.

The Counsel to the Defendant Mrs. L.I Onyemyeonwu, who was present in court, said she had an application before the court to file the statement of Defense out of time. When asked by the court, the Counsel to the Defendant claimed to have served the claimant on the 24th of February 2014 but claimant informed the court that they had not receive any such process. Upon the insistence of defendant Counsel to move her application, the Honourable Judge informed her that she could not move an application that has been brought before the court rather she should apologize for filing late. However, the matter could not proceed as the Court was not disposed to taking matters for trial due to a general power outage.

The matter has been adjourned to Wednesday 14th May 2014 for hearing.
