Key public stakeholders and other private sector players are expected
at the 6th West Africa Convergence Conference (WACC 2013) holding in
Lagos tomorrow being 15th November 2013. With more than 350 online registrations recorded, the
Lagos forum promises to be a major convergence of policies and
action-plans on technology trends as they affect people and environment
within the ECOWAS space...
The one-day event with six sessions will be formally opened with a
keynote address by the Minister of Communications Technology, Mrs
Mobolaji Johnson. WACC 2013 theme is ‘Emerging Trends and New Values in a
Converged Market.’ It is featuring speakers that include the Director
General of the National Broadcasting Commission, Mr Emeka Mba, who is
speaking on Content Regulation and the Regulator in the era of Media
Convergence; Dr Ashiru Daura, the acting Director General of the
National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) making a
presentation on Meeting National Goals in the Rise of Insurgent
Technologies; and Dr Umar Birdir, the Director General of the National
Office for Technology Acquisition and Promotions (NOTAP) articulating on
‘Technology Transfer, Patents & Intellectual Property Right, in the
era of Convergence and eEverything.’
Other expected leading speakers are the Executive vice chairman of
the Nigerian Commutations Commission (NCC), Dr Eugene Juwah to offer
perspectives on Regulatory Focus in the era of New Media, and Insurgent
Technologies; Professor Samuel Zalangar of Bethel University, United
States with a presentation on Modelling Nigerian Identity Project on
Global Realities; Mr. Deji Oguntonnade, Group Head of eBanking at GTBank
who is making a presentation on Redefining banking services to meet
consumers changing behaviour in a cashless era; Director General, NIMC,
Mr. Chris Onyemenam slated to articulate on The Imperative of the
National ID card Project in the Technology Convergence Era; and Engr
Greg Gbadamosi, Broadcast Consultant and former Zonal Director, NTA to
speak on Broadcasting and Broadcasting Profession in the era of
Convergence.
